Overland Trip Sumba 7 Days 6 Nights

ABOUT TOUR

Journey to the most arid island in East Nusa Tenggara province, but offers a million of wonders of culture and nature. This island is also known as Tanah Merapu or the island of Merapu. Merapu is the indigenous religion of the Sumbanese. Its natural wonders spreads throughout the islands; unspoiled waterfalls, white sandy beaches, stunning savannah hills, and beaches overgrown with ancient mangroves.

ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival in Tambolaka, Southwest Sumba

Flight to Tambolaka Airport, then meet your local guide to receive direct transfer to your hotel (recommended hotel is MARIO). Stop for lunch at local restaurant in town before heading to hotel. This hotel is beachfront, away from hustle and bustle. Relax on the beach while waiting the sun to set. Dinner will be at hotel.

Day 2: Explore Tambolaka

We head to Weekuri lagoon for swimming and relaxing. Visit a traditional village called Ratenggaro, one of the existing ancient villages in the region, to see traditional houses, megalithic tombs, and local people. This village is located near the beach, facing the Indian Ocean.  From here, we continue to Watu Maladong beach for chilling out and enjoying sunset. Stop at restaurant in town on the way returning to hotel. Pre-packed lunch box is provided for this tour. Dinner will be at hotel.

Day 3: Explore Waikabubak

Drive to Waikabubak (capital of West Sumba) to visit a traditional village Prai Ijing, a traditional village that still stands firmly in the middle of the city, unaffected by modern city life. Proceed to town for lunch, then drive to  Lelewatu Beach Resort/ Nihi Sumba Beach Resort for overnight. Check-in hotel and dinner at leisure.

Day 4: Waikabubak – Waingapu

Morning at leisure in the hotel. Departure and heading to Waingapu, the capital town of East Sumba. Stop to see traditional village Kampung Tarung and enjoy view and sunset in Wairinding savannah hills. Recommended hotel is Kambaniru Resort/Morinda Villa/Padaidita.

Day 5: Explore Waingapu

Waingapu is the capital town of East Sumba. Your journey here will be taking you to Waimarang waterfall and Walakiri Beach. Enjoy driving 2 hours, then trek down to the waterfall (30 minutes). Swimming here at its best. Pre-packed lunch box will be served. After lunch, we drive to Walakiri to relax on the beach while waiting the sun to set. Back to hotel and dinner at leisure.

Day 6: Explore Waingapu

Join another journey to Tanggedu Waterfall and Puru Kambera. Steady yourself for the next 3 hours ride crossing the savannah terrain. From Tanggedu village, we’ll be walking approximately an hour, down to the river to reach the waterfall. Pre-packed lunch box will be served after swimming. Back to the parking, then continue driving to Puru Kambera beach to relax and enjoy sunset. Return to town, stop for dinner, and get back to hotel.

Day 7: Returning Flight

Your journey here finally comes to its end. Check-out hotel, proceed to town for lunch and stop at souvenir market, and then head to the airport for departure flight. Enjoy your flight and thanks for your visit.
